4. CSRI Blog

Worth more alive than dead: Our biodiversity challenge

One of my enduring critiques of the CSR movement is that it has failed to have a dramatic impact on the biggest global challenges we face. Despite all the CSR reports and ISO management systems, things are getting worse, not better. This is most true when it comes to biodiversity loss. It is not exaggerating to say the we are causing the sixth mass extinction in the history of planet earth

1. Become a CSRI Affiliate Consultant

Are you a CSR consultancy? Why not become a CSR International Affiliate Consultant? In 2010, CSRI will launch CSR International Advisory Services, aiming to become the world’s biggest and best global network of CSR consultants. Affiliate Consultants will be permitted to use the CSRI logo (alongside their own), to link with other Affiliates, and to be included in any international commercial research or consulting work that CSRI procures. Annual Affiliate Consultant fees vary from £500 to £1,500 (depending on the size of consultancy). For more information and/or an application form, email wayne@csrinternational.org.

2. Volunteer Internships Available

Would you like to gain some CSR experience? CSRI is seeking an intern to contribute to its research and news publications. Tasks will involve compiling a weekly CSR News Digest and assisting with the dissemination of CSRI’s portfolio of themed Research Digests. Hours are flexible and working is remote (online), but will require a minimum time commitment of 5 hours a week. Please note that this is a voluntary (i.e. unpaid) position. The position is available with immediate effect. To apply, please email your CV and cover letter to info@csrinternational.org.

5. The Low Carbon Revolution: It’s Closer Than You Think

A few days ago, the UK government announced its Low Carbon Transition Plan, which will revolutionize the British economy. A few weeks ago, the Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change launched its Copenhagen Communiqué, calling for a bold global policy deal. Less than a month ago, the US house of representatives voted to bind the world’s largest economy to cutting carbon emissions by 17% from 2005 levels in 2020 and 83% in 2050. The revolution is here! Let’s look at these harbingers of change in a bit more detail. Read more http://www.csrinternational.org/?p=2719

6. CSR 2.0 World Tour

In 2010, Prof Wayne Visser, founder of CSR International and author of six books on CSR, and the forthcoming World Guide to CSR, will embark on an international tour to promote CSR 2.0, visiting as many CSRI members in as many countries as possible. Along the way, Prof Visser will collect and share examples of CSR best practice around the world. If you would like Prof Visser to visit your country, city or organisation, or wish to book a lecture, presentation, Masterclass or consultation, please email wayne@csrinternational.org to indicate your interest.

Preparations have begun for the publication of the 2009 CSR International Directory of Organisations. This will be made publicly available as an electronic resource for those looking for CSR contacts and services. Listing in the directory is free (organisation, keywords, website, contact person and email). However, to stand out, there is also the option of including a logo and 250 word profile description, at a cost of £50. To confirm your inclusion in the Directory, email info@csrinternational.org.
